[[Yuzu]] and [[Eithan]], nationless bounty hunters, betrayed their clients and escaped with [[Old Man]], who hid the object of interest in his ass, instead of turning him over to the [[Ducal Congress]]. The party boarded an [[Awast]]ian trade ship docked at port by tricking [[Captain Eddard]] into believing the mob of government officials headed toward them were coming for Awastians, not for Yuzu and Eithan themselves. This was believable to Eddard because through the giant port window in The Academy’s auditorium, it was possible to see everyone in Awast uniforms vomiting near the meeting’s food table, even though everyone had been poisoned, rather than just Awastian representatives, and their visibility was a consequence of their assigned seating. On their escape from port, Yuzu failed to preempt an archer who a shot fire arrow at the escaping ship, which Captain Eddard's son, who oversaw the children's gambling and wore a beret matching his father's, had bravely climbed to tighten the sail ropes, putting him in the line of fire.
