The Rabbit Guard is a military and political force organized by the [[Philosopher King of the Western Rabbits]]. In the year 344 they overtook [[Paleon]] by sheer numbers, and soon spread out to dominate all of [[Palestan]], sending huge waves of war refugees and orphans to [[Ilnam]] and [[Cascadia]]. ### History In [[elder's path 6]], [[Bemo]] fed [[translator]] [[mushroom]]s to rabbits in the [[western woods]]. The first two rabbis he fed mushrooms perished deaths of body horror. It looked as if the same would befall the third rabbit in his experiment, who after Bemo fed him two mushrooms grew a neck several meters long, which no musculature could support. The rabbit’s head lay on the forest floor like an anchor his body could not lift. But [[Yuzu]] fed the rabbit another mushroom, and he acquired the power of language. The rabbit identified himself as Gregory. It was after Gregory consumed the fourth mushroom that he assumed his final form as the [[Philosopher King of the Western Rabbits]]. By some means, Gregory was able to confer his upright, human-size stature and intelligence to other rabbits. He enlisted [[Bobby The Breeder]] to grow the population of the [[Western Rabbits]], his new society, and breed and condition warriors to form the Rabbit Guard. ### Controversy In the year 344, after the fall of Paleon, the Rabbit Guard broke their nonaggression pact with the smart-slow sirens of the western woods, who had been campaigning in Paleon for the zoning rights to open street-level retail in the nature conservation zones where they lived, and had seen the Rabbits as political allies against hegemonic human race. After the [[Night of Stole Fruits]], [[Markafarcafus]] and [[Sithica]] attempted to ally with [[General Piccatto]] of [[Awast]] to launch a counter campaign and reclaim Paleon, but were unsuccessful. In the years following, [[Sithica]] took up residence in [[Ecklune]], where he wrote a weekly polemic against the Rabbit Guard, alleging that they multiply in number every 7 months, and that by his calculations Pangolune would be 100% rabbit flesh in only a generation.
